My nightmare/terrifying ordeal/terrible situation started this morning/earlier today/a while ago when I went to drive/get in/use my car/vehicle/ride. As I/When I/Upon trying to reach for the door handle/latch/lock, I realized with horror/shock/dismay that I was locked out/unable to enter/denied access to my own machine/transportation/auto. My keys/remote/access card were nowhere to be found/missing/gone. Frantically, I/I searched desperately/In a panic, looking everywhere/checking every nook and cranny/rummaging through my belongings for any sign of them.
I was doomed to walk/stuck on foot/forced to trek home on foot/that awful distance/the long way. My hopes/Any chance/The possibility of getting a ride/lift/taxi seemed slim/unlikely/remote.
